Working Principle:
990 Microelectromechanical system in micro gas chromatograph(MEMS)
The 990 Micro Gas Chromatograph includes a (heated) micro mechanical sampler for a variable timing quantification ring. This allows very precise injection of very small amounts of sample in a small volume without shunt. The micro gas chromatography detector is a "TCD on a chip". Its internal volume is much smaller than the traditional thermal conductivity detector, without compensating gas, so it has higher sensitivity. Detection limits can be as low as subppm depending on column fillers and target compounds.

Analyze the liquefied gas
Sampling liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) or compressed hydrocarbon streams without affecting sample composition can be challenging. Agilent GC-Gasifier Sampling options vaporize high-pressure LPG samples under precise pressure and temperature conditions. This process is controlled by a 990 micro gas chromatograph and is part of the analytical method. This avoids uncontrolled sample expansion that results in changes in sample composition, resulting in a representative sample of gases that can be used for analysis.

Blowback column: Ideal for rapid analytical applications
For the 990 micro gas chromatograph, a variety of columns can be ordered with a backblow option that uses a shorter capillary precolumn and pressure point backblow. After the last target component is eluted from the short precolumn, the remaining components are backblown to the blowoff valve or detector. Because the column is isothermal, the next run can begin immediately without waiting for the heavy components to be completely eluded and the column to cool or stabilize. This shortens the analysis cycle: it is usually less than two minutes, and may even take only about half a minute.
